Max Patch sits at a height of 4,629 feet. This idyllic mountain is a beloved tourist destination and favorite for many hikers. With a sprawling, scenic landscape full of wildflowers and panoramic views, it is easy to see why the area is so celebrated. This website is managed by the Carolina Mountain Club in collaboration with the United States Forest Service and Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Max Patch is located in the beautiful Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina.

 

The Pisgah National Forest was established in 1916 in Western North Carolina. It was home to the first forestry school in the United States - The Biltmore Forest School. Today, this is marked by the Cradle of Forestry in America Heritage Site. Pisgah National Forest is one of four National Forests in the state of North Carolina.
